Motor Lublin secured an important victory in the Polish Cup by eliminating Legia Warsaw, but continues to struggle in the league. The Lublin club lost 0:2 to Piast Gliwice on Saturday, leaving them in 15th place in the Ekstraklasa table with just 5 points from six matches.
In the first round of the STS Polish Cup match played on Tuesday, Motor Lublin decisively defeated Legia Warsaw 3:0. As early as the 2nd minute, Karol Czubak capitalized on a mistake by Legia defender Robert Deziel Jr. To open the scoring. Fabio Ronaldo provided the assist for this goal. Motor controlled the game, and in the 40th minute, Ronaldo increased the lead himself. Mbaye N'Diaye sealed the final 3:0 scoreline late in the match. This means the current Ekstraklasa leaders, Legia Warsaw, were knocked out of the cup competition at the first hurdle.

Motor presented a completely different face in Saturday's league clash with Piast Gliwice, losing 0:2 at home. The first half belonged to the hosts, who created more chances. Makan Aiko came close to scoring, but his shot missed the target. Goalkeeper Gasper Tratnik, making his season debut, was beaten by strikes from Juande Rivas in the 78th minute and Michał Mucha in stoppage time.

The club announced on Sunday, August 30th, the start of ticket sales for the next league fixture. From 11:00 AM, tickets have been available for the 7th round Ekstraklasa match against Legia Warsaw. The game will take place on Saturday, September 5th at 8:15 PM at the Motor Lublin Arena.
Tickets are available online and at two stationary points: Fanshop Arena at Stadionowa Street and Fanshop Olimp at Al. Spółdzielczości Pracy. The club also promises additional attractions with a fan zone at the stadium. It was pointed out that Motor Lublin's new signings have been major disappointments, and the club is hovering just above the relegation zone after the loss to Piast. It was recalled that coach Mariusz Misiura faced Daniel Myśliwiec for the fourth time and again failed to defeat him. In February, when Misiura was still managing Wisła Płock, he also lost to Piast under Myśliwiec's leadership.
It was emphasized that Piast, despite having one of the theoretically weakest squads in the league, proved more effective. Motor Lublin must quickly find a remedy for their league failures to close the gap to the safe mid-table positions. The next chance for Ekstraklasa points will not come until December.
