Orlen Oil Motor Lublin is struggling in the Ekstraklasa, with the 14th round of the regular season deciding their play-off fate. In the latest issue of the PGE Ekstraklasa Magazine, Mateusz Puka interviewed Tomasz Dryła, a Canal+ commentator, about the team's situation and the role of its coach Jakub Kępa.
Dryła points out the lack of consistency in the team's structure. 'Kępa doesn't have a clear strategy. It's evident that he can't focus on a single direction of development. He often changes concepts, leading to a lack of cohesion in play,' the commentator says. He also comments on club relations: 'There's no clear hierarchy. Kępa has full freedom, but it's not clear that his decisions are driven by specific goals. That's thought-provoking.'
The interview highlights that the former champions are not in the best form. In the 13th round, they finished 12th, with results in the last five matches being one draw and four losses. Dryła points out weaknesses in defense and attacking play. 'They can't effectively play with an advantage, and the game starts to unravel in the middle of the pitch. That's not the style of a team with a chance for promotion.'
The commentator also notes that Kępa isn't utilizing the full potential of his players. 'There's no clear training plan. He often changes systems, but it's not evident that the players can take advantage of them. This leads to a lack of cohesion in play and trust in the coach.'
